Special Visitor for MS awareness in sixth class

Today in sixth class, we were so privileged to have Steve join us to talk about MS. Steve was diagnosed with MS 4 years ago and came in to explain the condition and how it affects him. We learned that MS is a disease that affects the nerves in the central nervous system. A person with MS has damaged Myelin, this is the covering around the nerves in the brain and nervous system and this causes them lots of problems, like issues with their vision, their muscular control, their balance, their sensitivity and they also have extreme fatigue (tiredness).  Researchers are still looking for the cause and the cure for this disease so the money raised today will help with that work.

We’d like to say a huge Thank You to Steve, who really helped us understand MS (and gave us jellies!)

Thanks a million Steve from everyone in sixth class
