Sixth go to Maynooth to support the Debating Team

Last Friday all of sixth class had the privilege of travelling to Maynooth University to support the school debating team of Mea, Erin, Dianaimh, Síofra, Max and Oscar, who were competing in the semi-final of the county inter-schools debating championship

The motion of the debate was “We can no longer afford to send money to poor countries” and NETNS were proposing this motion. Our opponents on the day were Two Mile House NS and although the judges deliberated for a very long time and found it hard to decide between the two teams, in the end it was our opponents who were victorious, by a narrow margin.

Although we were not successful, we are very proud of our team who presented their speeches in a very professional manner and really could not have done any more on the day. All in all it was a very interesting and enjoyable experience and all of sixth class really loved our trip to Maynooth.

We plan on holding a friendly debate against Kildare Town Educate Together NS next week, with the motion : “Winning is everything” Stay tuned to find out how it goes next week.

From everyone in Sixth Class.
