This Week in Senior Infants

What a glorious week we have had. It was great to have the sunshine this week.

We have started a new topic in Aistear and we are really excited about it. It is “Taking Care of Myself”. This week we discussed how we can look after ourselves with healthy eating and staying active. We also discussed the importance of personal hygiene. The word hygiene was our word of the week!

We practiced the washing hands routine and making sure that we scrub all areas of our hands, including our thumbs and the back of our hands. We also talked about how we need to look after our teeth. The class were really interested to share their knowledge on this topic.

Senior infants had Numicon again this week. We looked at double sums (7+7, 5+5, 8+8, 10+10). We can also say “double 6, double 8” and so on.

Senior infants continue to read their readers both at home for homework and in class. Our reading is really coming along nicely as we continue to practice our blending and find words that have y as a vowel sound (i and e). We are also our last group of tricky words.

In Gaeilge we are learning all about “Bia” and using the phrases;

An maith leat bainne?”

Is maith liom bainne/ Ní maith liom bainne“. We are learning more and more about each others favourite foods as Gaeilge!

Well done senior infants on another great week!
