Book Worms in Senior Infants

This week in senior infants we are continuing to learn all about the 1916 Rising and symbols of Ireland.

This week is also the celebration of Seachtain na Gaeilge and as a school we had the opportunity to raise the gaelbhratach in the junior yard on Thursday. Senior Infants have been busy in the last few days, learning the songs ‘Óró sé do bheatha’ and ‘Amhrán na bhFiann’ to perform on Thursday with the school. Thankfully the weather held up for the ceremony! Throughout the week, the students are practicing their Gaeilge around the school and cards are being awarded to the students that use their cúpla focal out on yard or around the school each day.

Other activities this week included World Book Day and the beginning of Power Hour in Sinéad’s class. Senior Infants were busy designing their own book marks to take home and use on their new books. We are very excited about Power Hour in the class and how we can bring the books home each day to read!

Finally, Bailey the bear is having loads of fun visiting the student’s houses each day. Well done everyone so far for keeping Bailey entertained in your homes and writing lovely pieces in Bailey’s memory folder. Bailey has a few more places to visit still and looks forward to them all!

Take a look at some of our work below!
