Fun investigating magnets

Storm Ophelia meant that this week was a bit shorter than expected for Junior Infants but it didn’t mean it was any less fun!  We talked for a long time about our different experiences of the storm and our unexpected days at home. Some children talked about plant pots and trees falling over while other children talked about the power cuts they experienced.

We had a shorter Maths Week than we were expecting, but still had lots of fun completing a maths trail and doing lots of sorting activities.

In Phonics we looked at the ‘i’ sound and in Aistear we began to look at magnetism. It was lots of fun investigating the properties of magnets. We found out that they attract certain materials, but others are not attracted at all. Other magnets we even sometimes repelled!  We made fridge magnets of important things, people or experiences. We investigated magnets in the Role Play Area and we made our own phonics games too.
