Discovering toys from the past

It’s been a lovely first week back after the holidays for Junior Infants. Everyone enjoyed seeing their friends and sharing their news. Some of us had been on long journeys to see family or friends and others had wonderful stories of celebrations and presents!

In Aistear this week we began to look at ‘Toys from the Past’.  We compared modern toys with older toys and even looked at what toys were like 100 years ago.

We enjoyed discovering some toys from the past in the role play area, and really loved making our own spinners, peg dolls and cup and ball games. There were some fabulous creations!

In phonics we looked at the ‘g’ sound and have been developing our sounding out and blending skills. This week as well we also learned about ‘tricky words’ and began learning them.
