Junior Infants News

We have been busy in Junior Infants this week!

In phonics we have been working on two new sounds, “ch” and “sh”. We have found lots of words that have those sounds in them and we are even able to sound some of them out and write them down. Our writing is coming on in leaps and bounds and a visitor to our classroom today told us it looked like Senior Infants writing! Well done guys!!

In maths we are continuing to work on number and now we know all our numbers from 1-5. We even have little rhymes to help us remember how to write each one!

In History we have been working on clothes from the past and present. Did you know that many years ago, ladies used to wear petticoats which were like big skirts?!

In Croí na Scoile we have been discovering all about Christianity and have learned the following facts:

  • Christians believe in Jesus Christ.
  • Their special book is called a Bible.
  • You would find candles, Holy water and a Crucifix in a church.
  • We read two stories from Christianity; “Noah’s Ark” which is from the old part of the Bible and “The Lost Sheep” which is from the new part of the Bible.

In music we have been learning two new songs; “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and “The Animals went in two by two” which is a song about Noah’s Ark.

In P.E. we are busy practising our dances in preparation for the visit from the Junior Infants from Gaelscoil Chill Dara next week.

Finally, well done to all the Junior Infants for the tremendous work that they are putting into their homework. Can we take this opportunity to just remind you all that homework must be signed by parent/guardian each night.

Have a super weekend and see you all on Monday!
