Book Worms in Senior Infants

This week was Book Week in NETNS and senior infants carried out some fun Book Week activities that allowed them to appreciate and enjoy books. The boys and girls designed a book cover, a bookmark colouring competition and played fun book quizzes on the novels that were read this year.

We are almost finished our novel ‘James and the Giant Peach’. We looked back at the other books by Roald Dahl and discussed our favourite characters.

Another lovely activity included Eimear’s 4th class making a visit to do some paired reading with senior infants. The class really enjoyed working with 4th class and showing them some readers they are doing at the moment. Huge thank you to Eimear’s 4th class for their help with our reading.

Dress up was on Friday and senior infants made a great effort. The classroom was full of colour with characters such as Wendy from Peter pan, Ninjago, princesses and a cat.

We also had assembly during the week and we watched first and second class perform. We listened to some great performances and learnt all about the importance of minding our heart and exercising regularly.

In Aistear, senior infants are learning all about forces like push and pull, floating and sinking and electricity.

Senior infants discussed the importance of staying safe around electricity. They looked posters and found unsafe measures.
