A Curragh break from School

Over the past few weeks, 5th class have been learning about place value in maths, informal letters in English and mé féin in Gaeilge.

In the first few days of school, 5th class carried out some class games in English and Gaeilge to settle back into school life.

This week in 5th, the class started free writing, started a new chapter in maths on lines and angles and are really enjoying mindfulness in the classroom. The class started their first class novel; “Goodnight Mister Tom” by Michelle Magorian. The class are enjoying the story so far.

The class have been working hard to earn class marbles over the past few weeks. The class marble jar was set up at the beginning of the school year and the class decided on their rewards. One of these rewards was a trip to the Curragh. On Thursday morning, the class set off for their Curragh time on a beautiful sunny morning. The class are on the road to earning their second reward of Movie time in the classroom.

The class have also been earning stars for their line out on yard. They got some double-doubles some days too and the line has improved so much. They reached their first 20 stars this week and earned no homework on Tuesday.

Next week brings the class into their third full week in school. They are well settled in now.
